Question about 78sc oil crossover line

I just received my oil crossover line that runs from the sump and connects to the ine that comes fom the external thermostat.

the reason i replaced it was because of my engine rebuild and while i was taking my old one off i notied the welded on flange had broken away from the engine support bracket. i was going to braise it back on and paint the pipe but decided for a hunded bucks i may as well throw on a new on ..
well.....

My new one showed up with no flange at all !!. does anyone know if this was taken off by Porsche because it keeps breaking ? it looks like i ordered the right part. Should i put it back on and not worry about the additional support ?

it seems that there is no support from the engine sump connection all the way to where the pipe it mates to connects to the thermostat. Would seem to me that the bracket is needed to support it at the mid point .

Any opinions ?

if pics or more info is needed please let me know.

Thanks Guys .

There is no support until you get to the right chain box. The only flex should be in the rubber connection coming off the body.
Love to see a couple pictures of the problem.
On the engine side, there is a 36 mm nut to tighten to the nipple in the case.

Thanks for getting back to me Bruce, you are probably right and the supprt fastens to the right chain box , its been a while since i took it off,,,,

As you can see my old one ( wrapped up so it doesnt leak oil, ) has whats left of the broken flange where it used to fasten to presumably the chain box for support.

My replacement one has no flange attached to it at all for support. I supose i could add a wrap around bracket ..

Just add a metal/rubber support and bolt it to bottom stud on chain box

ok thanks Bruce , that was my plan, I was just wondering if there was another more "official " approach, have lots of those brackets lying around, usually used on AC lines.
