Brake light - triggered by voltage spike?

Team,

My brake warning light in my SC used to stay on all the time. I repaired the spring switch in the handbrake lever, and it was fixed for a while. But then it came back on once while driving. I reset it with the battery-disconnect method, however it would intermittently come back on, usually after some heavy acceleration during driving (tough b/c I didn't always notice it right away.)

I've read/heard somewhere that it is also intended to indicate alternator/VR problems - double duty with brake warning.

I've replaced both brake switches (but not the master cylinder.)

Is the alternator warning light thing true? There is a separate warning/battery light for alternator, but it stays off.

My 81 brake light is working normally. Key on, brake light on. Start car, light goes off. Two clicks on the hand brake, light on.

I disconnected the battery positive while running for grins. Seat belt warning light flickers but not brake light.

How hard is it to isolate the e-brake switch from the circuit? Maybe that would be a step you could take. Appears the switch just creates ground when engaged.
