Window Switch, Regulator, or what?
The passenger side window of my '84 911 Targa has decided not to go - it's stuck in the down position. I've tried the switches on both the driver and passenger side door, but no luck getting the passenger window up (the driver's side window works fine). Fuses are fine, and I would think it isn't the switch if neither switch for the passenger window will power the window.
I'm trying to trouble-shoot where the problem might be. There was no sign of any problems before the window decided not to go up. I can't find a regulator retainer spring in the bottom of the door, so I don't think that's the problem. Are the next steps removing the regulator and then, if that doesn't fix things, chasing wiring? Just trying to rule out the obvious before I go for the bigger fixes. Thanks |
Swap the switches around. if lucky, it is just a faulty switch

Thanks for the feedback and advice, Draco & Wayne.
Actually, I have a bit of new info to add. Looking in the door interior one more time, I've found a window regulator pivot. Somehow this has fallen out. Now the next step is to figure how to get it back in.... So far the Bentley manual is fairly useless. Edit - now that I know what I'm looking for, I see about a million threads on this. Geez this is gonna be a pain. |
