1985 Targa - Rear Window Expert Needed - So Cal

Ran into a problem with the shop handling the repaint / restoration. Their glass guy can't get the rear window trim to fit properly after several attempts and one month of back and forth waiting for this character to show up.

Recommendations on a shop or individual in Southern Cal who can help. Much appreciated.

Trim has to go into the seal before installation.

Thanks, that is likely the problem. I am not doing the work myself and will need to find a knowledge shop to remove and reset the glass again.

Any suggestions on who to use in So. Cal.

TRE can do this for you.

If they've been trying to install the trim after the window is in place, it's probable that the trim has been badly distorted, and should be replaced. Sorry for your troubles. We dealt with the very same issue many moons ago.

You'll find that TRE has a great rep.

Good luck.

You must make sure all your bottom edge trims are not bent and follow the contours of the glass. Then install the trims into the seal. Lastly tie a rope just like a front windshield and have an assistant push down heavily on the glass while roping in the glass.
Here in Australia, we have only a few selected people that can actually perform this job, keep away from those large glass mobs, they def would have no idea on how to carry out a job like this.

There is an excellent thread on how to put the rear glass back into the Targa on this 'Board. So good, you can almost see yourself doing this job instead of the "experts".

You could even hand the instructions to someone and have them do it.

TRE however must be the best solution here. Best of luck!

TRE - thanks for the help and recommendation on the right glass guy to fix my problem.
