So, how much does it cost to rebuild a 3.6?

With all the interest around here in 3.6 conversions, I'm just wondering how the rebuild cost of a 3.6 would compare with, say, a 3.0?

This thought crossed my mind today as I visited a shop where they were doing top-ends on two leaky, 964 motors.

And, can the average D-I-Y'er even tackle a 3.6 rebuild himself to save a few dollars? They *look* pretty complex compared to 3.0's and 3.2's

Doug, I'm sure that you will get some more expert responses, but a good Porsche shop once told me that they are no more expensive to go through than any other 911 motor, probably less than some, ie. warped 2.7s, certain early motors that need MFI rebuilt, expensive P/Cs, etc. I think that the cases are bullet-proof like a 3.0, never priced P/Cs, though. Certainly makes more sense to rebuild a 3.6 than a 2.7 CIS, (which makes no sense at all to me, $7-8000=150hp).
