Interior tip of the day (For SC owners only)
 

I did this several months ago, but just realized that it may be a useful tip for someone in the same situation.

When i replaced my seats last March, the pair I bought were in pretty good condition considering their age and what I paid for them.
But, the outside drivers side bolster was showing a bit of wear and part of the piping was chaffed.
It wasn't very obvious, but I didn't want to continue wearing on this spot.
As I looked the seats over, it became apparant that both drivers side and passenger side seat backs were identical (I have the later model highbacks).

I simply dissassembled the backs from the bottoms and switched them out. So now I sit in the drivers side seat which now has the passengers side seat back. The bolster that was showing wear is now on the inside of the poassengers side... where it won't get any more wear on it.


Just thought this might help someone out...
After the thread about beating the leading edge of your targa top came out, it made me wonder... "jeez, that was really easy, and it never occured to me before... I wonder what I have done that may really help some people out."

Doesn't this mean that the seat tilt levers would be now facing each other, & fairly inaccesible?? I guess it doesn't really matter if you don't use the rear seats / luggage tray.

Andrew, it depends on what kind of seats you have.
My original factory sport seats only had one lever for each seat.

The late model highbacks that came off a late model Carrera have two levers on each of them... which makes it real easy to swap them out.

I knew this wouldn't work for everyone... but I figured if it helped just one person... it'd be worth passing along.

How difficult was it to disassemble the backs from the seat bottoms? Is it fairly obvious how they come apart? I've had my seats removed acouple of time to replace broken pwr seat buttons and this never occured to me.

I don't know Leland. Carrera seats too. I think you are slowly coming over from the dark side a piece at a time.

My seats weren't hard at all... just remove the trim pieces and a couple bolts and they come right off. You will have to undo a couple little cables for the release mechanism as well, but again, it isn't hard.

I'd say it'd be allot easier than trying it with the seats still in the car though. I'd remove them first.
