Turbo Trailing arms

I am doing some research for upgrades this winter and would like to know the advantage of switching to turbo trailing arms when redoing the rear suspension of an 87 coupe. Also is the advantage worth the price. Thx.

there are two advanages, they are bigger and stronger, and they change the geometry so the car holds its alignment better thru the entire travel. Is it worth it, I decided no. I am building a 1968 chassis into a full on track car. I converted from a short wheelbase to a long wheelbase and it would have been easy to add the turbo arms, I even have a set sitting in the garage. But to do it right you either need to relocate your torsion tube to a raised position like the turbo chassis, or go full coil overs to get the full effect of the shortened bannana arms. That is a lot of work and bucks for an improvment you probably will not be able to tell unless you have years and I mean years of track time (I have been wheel to wheel racing for two years now and I can barely notice changes in camber, let alone suspension geometry).

So I am not doing the conversion and I am selling off the turbo arms, and keeping Carrera arms. I will use the money on better sway bars and torsion bars, I upgraded to 23mm hollow with 31mm sway bar on the front and 31mm hollow and 31mm sway bar on the rear, and I am convinced I will be better off. Plus I have seen 911s with Carrera suspensions beat turbo suspension cars, so the difference is in the driver more than any where else at the club level.

To see my car under construction to show how far I am commited and still not going for turbo arms check out the link below
