1986 Carrera Headlights Out

Headlights worked in the morning, then a long spirited drive, and no headlights in the evening. Parking lights and license plate lights are fine. No headlights, fog lights, or high/low beam action. High beam and low beam fuses were changed with hopes that may have been it... No joy. I'm stumped. Would appreciate advice!

So it's working as if the headlight switch weren't out all the way?
Maybe the headlight wire on the back of the switch came loose - or the switch broke.

I had headlight problems, on, off, flickering on and off, you name it.
After fiddling with the main light switch and high beam stalk I installed new ones bought from our host and the problem was fixed.
Relatively easy installs for both, and worth the effort to know I could drive somewhere and get home in the dark safely.

I bet you that your high/low stalk is bad.

Thanks for the responses. It's certainly possible the wire on the back of the switch came loose. Something to check. I suspect it is the high/low beam stalk. As I am a newbie to Porsche ownership, I'm a little concerned about digging into the electronics. Overly cautious?

Do you have high wattage bulbs and/or the recommended relays to keep your stalk from melting down?

Same old bulbs but no relays. Suggestions?

Replace the stalk or the switch and install a relay kit to keep it from frying again.

Short video of replacing the headlight switch here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRnE4JYk7Kg It is a fairly simple thing. Might help.
