Euromeister 17" Wheels w/Hankook Ventus V12 Evo

Hey all,

Didn't see anything about this tire/wheel combo specifically mentioned here on the forums, so I thought I'd share.

Present car specs:
- 1988 911 3.2 (narrow body)
- Koni Sports (Yellow adjustables)
- Euromeister replica Fuchs wheels, F: 17x7 R: 17x9

FYI, the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo in F: 215/45R17 and R: 245/40R17 fit the above perfectly.

Prior owner had F: 215/45R17 R: 255/40R17 Kumho Ecsta XS's on the car. They rode terribly and felt incredibly "crashy." I had also read (see link) that they have terrible wet weather performance (hadn't experienced anything bad yet, but after totaling a 996 via hydroplaning, I'm not keen on wet driving in general). I could've dialed in some more give with my suspension setup, but then I wouldn't have been matching my effective spring rates and risked hammering the bump stops on full travel. Grip was, by all accounts, terrific in dry weather; I had no complaints in that area. Mostly the ride was abysmal.

I decided on the new combo due to having them on prior vehicles, and downsizing the rear to bring the reduction in size closer to the front reduction: -1.2% front, -0.8% rear now. I thought about going to F: 205/50R17, R: 255/40R17 to get a slightly better ride due to sidewall height and a better size match overall, but read/estimated that there might have been clearance issues if the tires ran wide. I'm not a track junkie and the car is my daily driver, so the price point (Amazon.com actually sells tires, prime shipping and all, BTW) was a plus as well.

Car now rides like it has a whole different suspension. Feels like a sports GT car now, rather than a over-sprung cheapo-aftermarket job. Amazing what a set of tires can do.

Thanks,
Matthew

I've done 10k on my Hankook V12s (225/45 and 245/45 17s). They are super sticky on hot days and average on wet. I will be getting the same on my next cycle probably 215s upfront as I rub a bit on driver side
