fuel pump issues 80 sc

Well after spending a lot of time following suggestions with regards to my car not even starting, I decided to remove the fuel pump thinking it was dead. I got it off after some bad language and several beat up hands. I figured I needed to consider a new one. I hooked it up to 12 volt battery and it ran like an angel. I attached a fuel hose with some gas in the hose to the pump inlet and hooked up to twelve volts. It spit the gas out like it was brand new. I lifted the sensor plate and nothing from the pump after hooking it up again. I think a wire is broken but do not know where to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i would check the fuel pump relay and fuse. in order to get the fuel to the injectors if the motor is not running, the relay needs to be jumpered. it involves a small length of wire connecting two of the terminals at the relay socket. temporarily you could put one of the black relays in the fuel pump position to rule that problem out

Toothache,

Spend a few minutes of your time getting familiarized by reading DKLever48's thread about FP relay test. Everything you need to know about your current dilemma is mostly discussed in that thread. Keep us posted.

I did change out the red/black relay. Still nothing from fuel pump. I still believe it is a wire issue somewhere. Will do move checking next weekend. Thanks for the help.
