rebuilt Bilsteins - oil on housing

I removed these sport struts and had them rebuilt by Bilstein 3 years/7K (yes only seven) miles ago and noticed the oil on the outside, about exactly the same on both sides. Is this the strut leaking again or just oil from the lithium grease packed inside the housing?

I have never seen any oil drip below the strut on the garage floor and the struts seem to work fine. Just not sure how much oil is in the cartridge and if they tend to fail catastrophically or not. I have trouble believing Bilstein would screw these up but I guess someone could have had a bad day.

thoughts?

Thanks,
Scott

Might be easiest to pull the roll pin, remove the insert, and have a look?
