911R sound from a 3.2?
I'm curious if its possible to get the type of sound from a 911R out of my 3.2. I currently have SSI's and a sport muffler that sounds pretty good but honestly, I want it raw and loud, lol.
I noticed M&K makes these: ![]() and this: ![]() Does anyone have any sound clips with either of these mounted to SSI's on a 3.2? Any advice?

Found this clip with that muffler. And this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCgi0g4Llrg I have the old GLH premuffler and muffler on my 3.0 and it sounds louder than both of these imo. I kinda love running it up to redline hopping on to the freeway on the way to work. Ear to ear grin! alas, i don't have a sound clip of it yet.

If you want that sound, you need to make some big changes which are not inexpensive.
A 906/RSR sounds like that due to camshaft profile, compression ratio, headers and megaphones. Racing exhausts like that work from 5K+ to 8K+ and simply kill power below 4K. Not good at for any street cars. ![]() ![]() Don't shoot yourself in the foot by installing a pair of race mufflers without a balance tube; stick to a dual-in/dual-out sport muffler of choice. Naturally, JMHO.

You are trying to copy a small high reving motor with a 3,2. Not sure if that is possible. But a two in two out factory style sport muffler with headers may be close.

Unless one is willing to spend a good deal of money, adding a GOOD sport muffler will get you as close as possible. ![]() ![]()

![]() Headers and 2in 2out m&k. I think I'm one of the few that thought it still wasn't loud enough. Shelved the m&k and went with this for a while. Now it's loud ![]() |

Those M&K race "mufflers" are deafening. I mean excruciatingly loud and not in a good way like megaphones are. I once had a competitor that chased me during a race come up afterwards and tell me how loud they were, and this was in a paddock full of race cars with straight pipes.

Eric,
Here is a clip of the first start of mine, 3.2 w/SSI's, on a car I sold. I don't know enough about the true sound of the R, but I loved that muffler. I regret having let it go, to the point that I'm having Brian make me another right now for my current car. Good luck with your search! https://youtu.be/9ymrvSSthlw

I have a M491, with B&B headers into GT3 Muffler, with electric cut out for straight exhaust when desired. Can't get much better sound than that!

Not sure you will get the 'R' sound from a 3.2, but sure you can get a good sounding and more importantly, good performing setup.....Having camped close to this car at Classic Lemans, it sounds amazing:

See if you can take a ride in a cammed non CIS (carb/efi)3-3.2l with SSI's and an M&K 2/2. It should be close to what you are looking for. The M&K also makes the exact same "wail" as pointed out in post 11 when near a wall or a concrete divider, just like in the vid.

I use the M&K sport muffler on the street and when I want it loud, swap to megaphones for the track.
