86 carrera -- sporadic buzzing/clicking from flasher relay
recently noticed that my flasher relay (located next to the driver's side hood hinge in the frunk, P/N 111 953 227d) has started to sporadically buzz (and click) -- buzz isn't very loud, but noticeable -- when the turn signals/hazards are NOT selected/operating. Turning on the hazards will cut out the buzz -- haven't yet confirmed that turning on a turn signal does the same thing.
Years ago, an unaddressed overcharging situation damaged my DME & tach -- I also notice my seat belt light illuminating from time to time (even though I confirm good voltage -- no spikes -- with a voltmeter when this occurs) -- voltage (monitored via my escort 9100ix radar detector) is "normal" -- 13.8 volts -- when the buzzing occurs. Mention this as a possible cause. Also worth noting that neither the seatbelt buzzer nor the door buzzer have worked in decades (can't tie their silencing to the overcharging situation) Haven't replaced relay yet (was finally able to identify it as the culprit today), but a post over on the 944 forum suggests that replacement didn't resolve the issue for another poster. Thoughts/Suggestions? Have voltmeter (analog right now), will troubleshoot ![]() |
