![]() ![]() Hopefully I will find one that is a worthy successor to the Becker unit I already have, but with Bluetooth, DAB and iPod connectivity. |

![]() This is the rev counter design Lady Wrench has been working on. As I am also an aspiring private pilot, I thought I would give it an aviation theme.... Seems more techno-practical than the boastful "11" on the Singer dial.... Thoughts? Last edited by RocketWrench; 10-05-2015 at 10:32 AM.. |

Thanks Uncle, and apologies for not stating the picture credit from my last thread. It was this picture that made me look at it as an option and I'm delighted that I shook off the emotional 'originality' guilt and decided to do the car my way....

Glad you like her! It's such a cool color that you almost never see. Over my cork interior it's simply perfect.

Love this project. Would Mrs. Wrench consider the word "Scoundrel" on the Tach, where the Singer logo is located? Some kind of script would be nice.

I am open to other suggestions though.... Also, if anyone can suggest how I coerce Mrs Wrench into getting on with it, I'd welcome that too.... |

Dinner out couldn't hurt, instead of buying parts.

Well... So far she has had a holiday to Amsterdam, another to Wales, then Israel. I bought her/us a puppy and she is helpfully looking at a new house... I don't think I have been negligent in boyfriend duties, but she did offer over a year ago and so far - no logo...

In that case, dump her. That's another alternative.

I couldn't do that, she's the best! Just a bit slow sometimes... She also helped me strip the car for painting and labelled all the parts....

Regarding head unit choice: I have one of the Retrosound units. While it looks mostly correct in the dash, sound and features could be better for the price. Lately I have been looking at the Blaupunkt Toronto 420 BT (but have not tried on in person yet).

On that tach. if you haven't already considered it, you might consider re-clocking the numbers to put max the rev's near 12:00 position which is racer style. Of course you'd have to move the inner parts also or maybe just the needle, no idea if that's easy or gauge specialist time.. All that might be a bit unwanted. The orange is very nice.

You could sell it to the Wheeler Dealer guys then buy it back after they are finished like 914 guy did
![]() On the radio. Do some checking around. I had one similar to the one you propose and over beeeers one night compared notes with three other guys. We all had similar failures to the units. They would work but volume control went out. So sometimes it would go up, sometimes not at all, then sometimes would go down when your turned it up. Only occured when you operated the dial but still 3 or 4 times is not a coincidence.

Do you know of any others that are high quality, but not quite so bright and flashy? |
