Is ring piece needed to move fuel pump to front

Hey Guys, I'm in the process of putting my 73 rs clone back together. Currently, I'm gathering parts for the fuel system and I moved the fuel pump from the rear to the front. I'm running MFI with a twin plug 2.8 engine and will use new 4.5mm, 7mm and 9mm Porsche fuel lines for MFI with the associated clips.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to find the ring piece (901.356.049.00) of the fuel system that was used for a 1969-70 911S or E when the fuel pump was located in the front,. The ring piece connects to a banjo bolt and also appears to connect to gas tank fittings. My question is whether this ring piece is necessary or if it is possible to just run the fuel lines without that part.

I looked at the PET catalog and the answer is not clear to me, so if you have any experience with this part as it relates to moving the fuel pump to the front (and whether the ring piece is a necessary part), I'd be interested to hear about it.
