Porsche inspired furniture

I had some extra 911 parts lying around and thought I'd do something silly with them.

I was lucky. My wife liked the lamp, though she has suggested it's more appropriate for a man cave.

I had the original hood for my car hung from the ceiling by chains. I put a light on top of it and it lit the room without any direct light on the big screen. Plus it was out of the way so it couldn't get scratched.

Almost steam-punk. Functional art, just like the original.

Very cool looking.

What's the device in front of the lamp?

It's a power panel that I found in an antique shop. I made a box to house it.

It has a voltmeter, mechanical frequency meter, an hour meter and an ammeter. It's only there because it's fun.

6 legged Porsche lamp is about to pounce on the poor unsuspecting power panel. Doesnt stand a chance.

Intake runners......

Thanks for the idea of using old extra Porsche parts. I have boxes of CIS intake runners that I have accumulated over the years and it is getting a problem keeping them in storage. I will borrow your brilliant idea and make several lamp shades for my family.

i am going to use them as shelf supports in my man cave . They are perfect in that they are 90 degrees. Just use a forstner bit to go into the shelf a fem mm and insert
