How to remove the heater controls from an early 911?
Hi all. I'm in the process of changing the vinyl on my dash face, and I need to remove the heater controls to do it. I can't seem to figure out what the next step is after I remove the 8mm nut holding it to the chassis. Do the heater lines easily disconnect, or is this one of those projects that looks easier than it actually is?

I cant remember the details but its more difficult than it looks. There is some hidden mount points or something that make it tricky. Getting back in place is even worse. I think I remember its a lot easier with the radio out if you have not already removed.....for weight savings :-)

Remove steering wheel
Remove clamshell Remove knee pad and ash tray Remove fiberboard cover over fan in trunk Loosen 7mm nuts locking the cables to the HVAC directional vents, pull cables out Remove passenger side vent and associated tubing Remove 10mm nut holding the HVAC control levers to the body Remove HVAC wiring to body and lights to it Pull/push control levers through multi-hole grommet, can just remove entire grommet from body Pull control lever unit out |
A most annoying job. If you're patient, the faceplate can be pulled out enough to work the vinyl around and under it. Just have to remove the one bolt for that.

What's required to change the vent control lights. How many are there? Need to pull out the Bentley.
