how would you refinish this fuch?

Not sure exactly how it was blacked out, but it looks lime a pretty good job.
However, I don't like it!
Thinking about just painting the lips? Or spin them and lightly sand down the lips?

I'd chemically strip the black to see what the finish is underneath, as a first step.

Soak it in gravy

paint the cap in black and you are done.

Sorry guys, I didn't explain myself that well.
I don't want to refinish the whole wheel.
Just get the polished lip look.
Paint or polish?

Maybe cheesy, but a good quality alum, or stainless trim ring?

If not I'd polish.

Sorry, what was I thinking...

Do you have to do all 4 wheels, or is it only one to match the other 3 ?

If you don't want to sand down, or strip down to the metal, you could just clean it scuff it up a bit, then mask what not should be silver and spray paint the lips silver. However, if you paint the lips silver, it will not have the polished look, if that's what you looking for.

I stripped these all the way down to the metal, polished, masked off and painted black.

Wow engelbert, they sure are purdy!!
That's the look I want.
Yes I have 4 just like this.
The black is in very nice condition and shiny, just don't want it on the lips.

I think you would have a tough time getting a clean edge between the center and rim if you try to strip or sand just the rim. Painting the black centers is easy. I would strip it completely, polish what you want polished and paint what you want painted.
