Direct Short = Wiring Question
 

Well the shifter rebuild on my G50 went great this past weekend and she is shifting like new. The bad news... I crashed a wire on that little "Light Lever Heater" light on the floor next to the emergency brake causing a direct short, melted wire, and burned out fuse. Does anyone know where that tiny wire for the Light Lever Heater exits the wiring harness? I want to back track and see how much of it melted but hate to tear out all of the carpet. Thanks!

if its the blue wire , on mine looks like it heads back into the tunnel in back , may be able to see it if you take the rear cover off for the coupler.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1442940863.jpg

The wire in my '85 travels under the passenger side carpeting, up the footwell then thru the firewall, behind the dash and connects to the blue/black [BL/SW]dash light feed wiring.

It is the Bl/bk wire, but it's not fused, unless you added a fuse. It runs off the dash lights. When my clock wiring shorted, it took out all the dash lights and the lights in the heater mechanism behind the shifter. You need to take out the passenger seat to remove the heat lever housing I think. The wire runs up the right side of the shifter on the floor and up into the dash.

BTW mine is an older SC so the advice about under the mats is the way to go ..
