Values of 'mid-years' 911s
Ok, so admittedly I've been out of touch for about a year and a half since my house burned last July. Special thanks to fellow Pelicans that donated to my cause, I really appreciate it.
The thought crossed my mind more than once to sell the '74 since I haven't had time to work on the project in so long, but my wife insists that I keep it. Finally I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel where the events over the last year and a half will be behind me. In doing so, I've been doing some looking around and maybe it's just me, but it seems as if mid-year 911 values might be increasing rather sharply. I've just been looking on ebay, but I figured that you all would know better than anyone, all the more reason to keep it. Mid-year 911s fetching 8-12k seemed common about a year and a half ago whereas now I see prices in the upper teens and those seem to be the exception. What gives? |

They are all going up. I happen to like the mid years the most and have been watching the prices. Hell I have seen US mid year Carreras with asking prices close to 6 figures. Pretty rediculous for a car with the same cis engine as mine.

I don't know, I am having trouble selling my 68K mile Middie (75 counts?) and I think I am giving it away. Maybe I need to get it 'dealer mop/glow'd'??
1975 Porsche 911S 68K Miles What am I doing wrong? (Except living in Canada, I need to get away for the winter!!) |

Seriously, Is this the only place you have it listed? If so, that's probably a big part of it. Price may be a little on the high side as well, but I'm not the expert (hence my posting). |

Ive seen prices range from low 20's on up from there. It seems that coupes get the most love and the more documentation the better.

It's been several long years since any running air cooled 911 was under $10k.
Mid years seem to follow similar sale values (per Hagerty) as SCs and 3.2 915s of similar condition (all around $30k average). The nicest ones are $50k+. A purple targa is probably not an easy sell, but for the right buyer it will be perfect.

I recently had to renew my American Collectors Insurance on my clean - no issues 1975 S (w/ a 3.0 liter motor)
Initially, in 2008 I insured it for $23,000 Last month when I was visiting TRE I asked Jeremy if $35,000 was enough for a comparable replacement car in the event of a catastrophic loss. Jeremy told me that I should probably insure it for $40,000 since the values were going up. Again the condition and options certainly make a difference and a complete history will always be a major plus. Last edited by RNajarian; 09-23-2015 at 08:43 AM.. |
