Hi All,

I'm looking for recommendations for a Porsche specialist shop in northern NY (I'm hoping Syracuse area or maybe Rochester, Albany)

Thanks you

PM Sent.

I don't want to publicly disparage a shop.

There's not too much in Syracuse you might want to try Albany or Rochester.

Call the guys at Unobtanium. They are closer to Albany and may know of someone nearer to you.

porsche shop in Syracuse

Cantec is iffy. I called about alignment on my Porsche, and wanted to be in the bay when they did the work. They said no way, customers not allowed on the shop floor. WTF!! My car, my money, my spec for alignment. Guy was kind of a jerk... Might give Mark Schultz a call. He's in Utica. Has been a P car fanatic for years. Does great body/paint and some mechanical work. 315.724.2648. Tell him I sent you. Other than that, a shop in Amsterdam, does all Porsche work. Can't remember the name. Look up gmr911 on this site, he had his Porsche aligned and balanced there. Expensive, but they do good work.

I'm looking for a shop that would be skilled to drop the 930 motor out of my SC and then install a stock 3.0, get it running properly...

shop in albany

Healy,
Just remembered, Rick Dobush, Bavarian Rocket Science in Albany, NY. He puts on tech sessions in Syracuse, very knowlegeable on P cars and decent guy. His phone: 518.598.1273. He has a web site as well, Bavairanrocketscience.com. He can do what you want, won't come cheap though. May be worth a call.

I think it would be cheaper for us to trade cars . I'll give you My sc and I'll take yours with the 930 engine...I can meet in syracuse . Not many P shops around here period. Bob probably listed the only shops worth calling

Dan Jacobs near Hartford, is worth the drive from anywhere. But it is true that selling your car as is, and buying the car you want might be a better deal.

I can recommend Automotive Associates in Canton CT or the aforementioned Hairy Dog garage. The right shop that requires a three hour drive is infinitely better than the nearby wrong shop.
I once towed a car eight hours to Maine to get the right paint job. That paint job gets remarks every time I take the car out, and yet when they hear I got it done in Maine they think I'm nuts.

I endorse Hairy Dog (Dan Jacobs). He actually did a engine transplant for me on a 911 from 2.7 to 3.0 and it ran like a scolded cat. He also did some other tweaks.
