Will you post back after you talk to Gary? I recently heard he retired. I don't want to send people his way if he's trying to get out of the business.

Please post up after completion with your opinion. I am in CT and will eventually be going down this road. Thank you!

Gary Fairbanks........

Spoke to him early this year and bought a scrapped 915 transmission bell housing for a project. I asked him if he has retired as rumored. He said he is still in business but has probably slowed down. He could be in the 70's like me and time to settle down. He still answers his phone. Best to contact him and find out.

Tony

Another member just posted a thread that had some information about Gary. It indicated that Gary is still doing work but he no longer ships gearboxes in and out. It must be a local delivery and pick up in person. I hope that helps someone in the future.

You are right Matt. I spoke to Gary on the phone a few weeks back and he refused to work on my box that I would have shipped to him. He said he's only taking walk in business these days. Very nice guy, seems to know his stuff and willing to share with guys like me that don't.

That would be the good Dr. Evil. He is the one who took my 914-6 transaxle and converted it to a side-shifter and rebuilt it and changed the gears to work better with the 3.2. Additionally he cleaned and refinished the case.

+1 for Gary Fairbanks. He rebuilt my 915 with me as his apprentice 3 years ago. Grant experience for me, thanks Gary!
