Porsche repair Richmond, virginia
Looking for a shop to do a PPI in the Richmond, Virginia area. Is a leakdown test part of this process? Thank you for any recommendations. Glenn

PPIs are kind of cafeteria pricing. You need to discuss with the shop what you want and they will tell you what that costs. Assume nothing. There's a good recent thread in the Marketplace about a "bad" PPI. It was partly the shop and it was partly the buyer assuming things about what a PPI includes.

Thank you for your response. I am looking at a 2010 Cayman S with 10500 miles. Do u have suggestions as the base I should request for a PPI or anything additional I should request. Took off the engine cover after driving and the coolant res tank appears to be leaking at seam. This will be covered under extended warrantee when PPI is done.

I got mine at Lufteknic. Cost me $200.
Be prepared, they only appreciate concourse condition cars and will piss all over ones that aren't perfect. They offered a valve adjustment for $1000 as well. I got it performed at Sportscar Workshops for $500 instead. Not to say Lufteknic doesn't know their stuff, they surely do. But Sportscar Workshops was just a much better fit for me and my car so that's been where I've been taking it ever since. Also, check out Cars & Coffee at Regency mall next saturday. Always lots of p car guys there. |

Thank you for the invitation but I am volunteer crew at the hospice regatta this weekend. Would like to make arrangements this week.
The coolant tank is the sellers responsibility and an aggressive PPI sounds good. Suggestions on what I should request be performed? ie leak down> Would you consider both of them for a 3.2 rebuild which is a simultaneous project? I apologize for not posting picture sooner. ![]()

Robert at Lufteknic is totally the way to go. I'm not sure about the whole pristine cars comment as I was just there two weeks ago and not everything in his parking lot is clean and shiny. There is a 50's era Bug with a 356 motor in it that is at the shop that is no where near pristine but is the coolest thing. Plus all the older 911 that he has in the shop, not even close to clean let alone pristine. But definitely cool to look at and imagine all the possibilities of what they could become.
I had Robert's shop do go through my rebuild and double check my work to make sure I did it correctly and really dial in the tuning after they installed the engine back into my car. Money I wasn't originally planning on spending but hind sight is it was money well spent. I could have never got my engine to run as good as he did. My recommendation would be the same as Matt's, be very clear about what you want, what you expect and know what your estimate is before you leave the car for them to inspect. It is very easy to assume PPI means spend a couple of hours looking at a vehicle only to find out a PPI really was inspection, leak down and compression tests and that your invoice is now several hundred dollars more than what you expected to pay. Best of luck.

I realize it is a ways to travel, but LMN Motorsports in Virginia Beach is excellent.

I also recommend Lufteknic. Make sure you're clear on what the PPI does and doesn't include but they really know their stuff. They have been working on my decidedly not concours cars for almost 10 years, this includes several PPI's and a lot of other stuff.
