Was this color/interior combo factory
I've come across an 87 white cab, 911..... and the interior is grey, but the topside dash is navy blue, as are carpets and other bits. cab top is Navy also.
Was this ever factory?. I know about special wishes and such....but I'm wondering if this was ever a mainstream combo ?

It could have been ordered that way- there were literally 100's of combinations available as far as seats- carpet- door sills - dash & tops back then.

As I say, I understand the special wishes program, where you can order any combo of trim and colors....I am asking if others here have seen this as more "normal" or not ? I have seen white cabs with black interiors and black top....maybe burgundy interiors with burgundy top and burgundy dash...
.... but... ..... what about grey interior, grey seats and carpets, blue top and blue dash ????

Years ago during the mid 80s I knew the local Porsche salesman. He told me anything was possible from the factory. Can you post a picture?

Wil, I don't believe that can be an optional color scheme with the blue dash. Is the door top trim blue also? That should always match the dash or it is not factory correct. There was no blue/grey option. If it came from the factory that way, it was almost certainly from the special wishes program because all the regular options had all leather or leatherette surfaces in the same color (except that the dash top was black in some color options).
1987 interior colors: Available leather or leatherette: Linen Burgundy Mahogany Black Blue Grey-Green Available carpet colors: Linen Blue Mahogany Burgundy Black Grey-Green Champagne Plum Red Silver Grey Caramel Venetian Blue Cabrio tops offered in: Blue Black Mahogany Burgundy Grey-Green Last edited by porschenut; 03-11-2011 at 06:18 AM.. |

Porschenut.....therein ( I think) lies the problem.
Without even making this a "special wishes" program car.....can the car be white paint exterior, but ordered with "standard-available" blue cab top, standard linen carpet and seats....and standard blue dash ?? All your catagories say "available"...meaning.....any mix-and-match of these "standard" fitements ( blue top / blue dash / linen seats) can be ordered?

I know that everything was possible, and yet this combination looks odd. Being hooked on this car since the age of 8 I have seen many, many cars - but admittedly in Europe.
If I had to guess, from 7000 miles away and without seeing the car - the seats were replaced. Blue was probably too hard to find. But, that's my guess only. And I am no Sherlock :-) |

That said, the linen interior option came with linen color on all of the leather/leatherette surfaces except the dash and door trim, which were black. I think it's unlikely it could have been ordered with a blue dash without special wishes. You might be able to find out if this was a special wishes car by calling PCNA customer care at 800-PORSCHE. You provide your VIN and they can usually tell you all the options the car came with, the production completion date, etc. |

this is not correct info.
there are many cars with linen 1987 that have dark blueback dash, steering wheel, and door tops. In fact, the majority of Linen cars look like they came this way- I have only seen one that had black instead of the blue black. combined with the correct exterior color ( diamond blue, etc ) it looks awesome. ![]() ![]() |

I know that mibi has revived an old thread but, for the sake of posterity, a few additions...
Contrary to what was stated above, interior to sample has been around a long time. That's not what Wil was seeing, though. There were quite a few interior combinations in the late 80's and some of them were available with either black trim or marine blue trim. The color on the car in the original post was likely silver grey with marine blue trim, not linen. There were also a lot of choices using linen as the base color. JR |

javadog= if the data card has nothing special on it, does that mean its not an "interior to sample?"
my sticker only shows 16" wheels, Revo radio, sports shocks and auto speed control as options. |

The interior code is always listed and should be to the right of the paint code. Look for two letters, like "HR" or "HS", etc. It won't be in the option codes area if it was a standard option, which I expect it will be.

Probably a leatherette interior with partial leather seats.
