Update on "I am in head stud hell.." - it's out, and I'm a happy guy!

The stud is out! THANKS for the advice (heat, Snapon extractor, and tap with hammer as you're turning) - it worked great. Time for a beer.

Wow! There wasn't a lot meat left on that one, Colin. Good job! When I bought my set of Snap-on extractors (to replace a set of Chinese "Snap-off" extractors), I almost had a heart attack at the price tag. But they have never let me down. Good tools *pay*, they don't cost.

The set I've got is called "REX10A" 10 Piece Screw Extractor Set. By Snap On. It cost me less than $30, about five years ago. Hope they're not too spendy now. They are certainly worth it, even if the price has tripled. Comes in a nice case. Congratulations. Even with the right tool, this is an easy job to screw up, so to speak. Jolly good show.
