Removing windshield and rear window trim

I have found that a PVC pipe cutter cable saw is the best way to get the trim out of window rubber trim. Gently pry up a center connector, slip the cable under and saw away around the window. Trim pops out perfectly.

Shaun,
Did you need to lube as well?
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Johan

Hey Johan,

No lube needed, a light sawing action lifts the embedded channel out of the rubber molding if it's resistant to change.

Perfect solution. Thanks for sharing it.

I use the same technique using a long exact knife.

I cut the seal clean through to the other side not disturbing the trim.

-Thickest part of the seal remains on the car.
-The slice of rubber that you cut away from the main seal still holds the trim and can be lifted away from the car.
-the rubber that remains with the trim is so thin it easily will peal away without having to bend the trim.

It is a great technique. I hadn't thought of using a PVC pipe cutter cable saw.
Thanks for the tip Shaun
