Does anyone recognize this part?
It's rare that I get stumped on something, but I'm about to buy a small lot of miscellaneous parts, and this part is in there. There's a bunch of 959 stuff in there, so this might be off of the 959, but none of my experts can identify it right now. The side has a connector, similar to the six-pin CD boxes - it does look like a high-powered CD box. It might not even be off of a Porsche - there's some other random stuff tossed into this lot.
Free bragging rights to someone who can identify it! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1443940793.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1443940808.jpg Thanks in advance, Wayne |
Porsche 912E ? not a 911 part
|
Too new looking to be off a 912. And too big. Other than that, I'm of no help. Looks late '80s to me.
|
I struggle to believe that part could be off a pre 90s porsche. That appears to be an amplifier of some sort. The casing is a heat sink normally used with high power amplifiers
|
Can you confirm the manufacturer? Bosch?
|
I am hooked........
When are you going to take it apart? |
I just made the deal to buy the parts, I'll pick them up on Monday morning. There's no real markings on the part.

My guess is the contents of "The President's Football". Don't plug the 6-pin CD box in unless you speak Russian...
|
Holy Grail! At last, finally found after all these millennia. For sure, a flux capacitor.

Is it a high-compression bumper bolt of the lower radiator shaft?!?!
I think.... |
Power there for sure, but the case with heat sinks is cast, the rest is stamped and everything looks "production" to me. Too much for audio. I'm thinking engine or transmission management, though could be early chassis (suspension) controller.
|
Are there any jacks/plugs on the unseen end?
|
Part.
pm sent.
|
That's a huge heat sink! That must have some hi powered darlington transistors or Bi-Polar transistors. Typically that type of package would be used for very hi output stereo amp or possibly some wild ignition control system. That's my guess.
|
Looks like a stereo amp of some sort. Lots of OEM's from Harmon Kardon, Bose, Sony etc have similar heat sinks.

turbo encabulator?

Look familiar? That did not take very long Just do a google images search for part # aec104bk And if you want to wire it up here you go: http://www.dinoplex.org/PDF/Dinoplex_AEC_104_Wiring_Diagram.pdf |
Wow, heck of a find.
|
And that box has some value! over $1000 if someone needs it.

The collective knowledge of the group plus the internet amazing to an old guy like me.

Too bad, it's not a 959 part, but the little odds and ends that were in this lot will help me pay for it. I got a whole bunch of random stuff in the lot, including a 1969 Porsche 911 engine case, this ignition thing, a fiberglass mold for a 917 seat, a 906-style looking seat that looks really, really old, some caps, lenses, etc. Let me know if anyone sees anything they need in the photos? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1444251626.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1444251638.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1444251646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1444251654.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1444251661.jpg |
Wayne, what are those DMEs with the crazy adapters on them? Can you share some close ups of those and the part numbers?
And what's the black electronic box in front of the 4 DMEs? Thanks. |
