180° while pulling onto the highway
Pull up to a busy highway, stop and wait for traffic. See a clear shot to get across to the other side, punch it, realize I've just hit a patch of wet leaves, do a 180, punch it even more while cranking the wheel the other way, tail swings around and I'm facing the right way, in the correct lane and quickly doing 65mph. Amazingly, the only words from my fiance were, "oh, must have been that patch of we leaves." Not sure if my next stop should be DE or church.
PS, How fun was that!!!!!!

In my book, DE and church are pretty much the same place.

I would stop to change your shorts first. Congrates on the quick save.

Yup. At that point your biggest concern is not the wet leaves on the road, but the wet shorts on your seat. Nice save!
Another big one that I used to have to watch out for was those tar snakes laid down to seal cracks. A few years back when I spent more time hammering on the Ducati than in the car, these things caused more than a few "tense" moments...

speaking of the mythological creature known as the "right woman," my girlfriend rolled over in bed last night and asked me, "Dave, can you explain to me what is understeer?"
"Sure, I replied, if only you'll tell me why you want to know." "Because I always here it on Speedvision and I want to know."

Fun, huh!?!?
I did a 360 coming down a shelf road from a local ski area after the cardboard derby. I think these things have a natural urge to head in the right direction, in spite of all the folklore to the contrary Never did ask my passenger if they need a change. |
