73S Early_S_Man's Annie - starting the reassembly
Following up on these threads:
Warren's Annie going to paint! and Early_S_Mans Annie in the paint booth! and Early_S_Man's Annie - the early years I've started the reassembly! A few days ago, I started working on the rear bumpers and I'm beginning to understand why it's so expensive to have a car restored. Fitting the new trim and deco pieces is extremely fiddly and time consuming. However, the end result is really satisfying! Here are a few shots of the process and end result: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Mark Wilson; 03-02-2014 at 11:10 AM.. |

Amen on being super fiddly.
You're doing a great job. Slow and careful will get you there in the end. ![]()

Still lovin' this project! Thanks for the pictures and the wonderful attention to detail that this extraordinary car deserves.

The original yellow cad capture nuts with the rubber gasket thing for the emblems were a bit tatty, but the repalcements are silver plated. The top row are the new silver ones. I whipped out the dremel and the originals cleaned up pretty well. Oh, a dremel wire wheel will eat through thumb skin in a heartbeat...

Had a little time this afternoon to chase down new fasteners to button up the hood.

Mark, she's coming along really well. She will have a fine looking rear.

While I'm chipping away at little projects, I ordered the COA. As I suspected, engine and trans are the ones Annie was born with.

A little more progress to report. Fuel tank cleaned, touched up undercoat with Upol and finish coated with epoxy.

The front of the tub had some ugliness to it as well. Most of the original undercoat was still solid, but some areas that had flaked were scraped to shiny steel, epoxied, undercoated, epoxied one more time and sprayed with some signal yellow and clear.

Do you mind sharing the color you used for the epoxy top coat? The tank in my '77 is about in the same shape as yours was (discoloration after cleanup), and I wanted to find a suitable color to refinish. Thanks

I'd be tempted to hit the rotors with some sandpaper.
BTW, Mark did you find a small dingus on the top part of the interior of the dash, near the wiper motor, behind the clock? Behind the Gauges post #3 shows a pic of it in the above thread - it has a black wire on one side and a red/white on the other side mine is a '73.5 MY |
