My Odyssey battery Odyssey

I needed to replace the batteries in my '73. I wanted to keep a kind of original look, but after having de-rusted and restoring the battery boxes years ago, I knew I wanted AGM batteries. I had Miata batteries in there until now, but because of the height, I was always concerned about the positive terminal coming into contact with the battery box. I discovered that the Odyssey 975 was the right depth, but a little narrower and a lot shorter than a stock battery. I wanted to use the original hold down straps, so I built a sleeve that had the inside dimensions of the Odyssey battery and the outside dimensions of a stock battery. I rounded the areas where the strap was to ease the bending angle and in the end, couldn't resist the urge to paint them black.

Here are some pictures of the scene of the crime.

It looks factory! Nice job! Odyssey batteries are great too. My PC 680 is still going strong after many years.

Interesting experiment today.

When I bought my odyssey battery I chickened out and got the bigger PC925 rather than the smaller PC680

Well, today my son's 4.6L mustang V8 lost is alternator and drained the battery on his way to work.

I pulled my 925 out and met him. It started the V8 without hesitation and he made it back across the city just on battery juice alone.

1/2 hour of driving and it only drained down to 11.39 volts.

I was impressed
Obviously more battery than I needed for my primitive 73.
