Looking for Engine Compartment Bracket P/N

In preparation for putting the stock AFM back into my '87, I'm looking at what other parts I'm going to need, and I can't find the P/N in the PET for a specific bracket. It's the one outlined in red here:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1444760828.jpg

Looking at the PET, the other bracket that fastens to the same rubber buffer is #3:

Any ideas?

It's an L bracket, i couldn't find it in the PET catalog. Do you need a Porsche L bracket? You can probably find something off the shelf in an auto parts or hardware store.

I might have one.

My '87 does not have that bracket, --- not factory?

gamin 10-15-2015 09:00 AM

My 88 has the bracket and the blue attaching piece as in the photo.

My 87 has it and clip

scarceller 10-15-2015 10:21 AM

My 84 has this:

It's a different style bracket but maybe it's not stock?

scarceller 10-15-2015 10:22 AM

Just curious, what's in it now? if the AFM is out.

Wire insulated bracket.......

The insulated bracket for the wire harness is an added bracket and not original equipment or factory installed. You won't find any part number for this part because it does not exist.

That bracket looks exactly like the wire holding bracket used on a 915 transmission to hold the speedo and reverse wires.

My '84 Targa has the bracket as does my friends '85....both stock from the factory.

Hey scarcellar, there is currently an aftermarket AFM in the car with a cone air filter. It has its own bracket instead that works for that shape AFM. It also has its own harness that connects from the factory harness into the AFM. I'll post a pic when I get back home this weekend.

I was thinking the same thing, Lorne. Those brackets are also on my G50 transmission.

Okay, I got the correct bracket for the AFM, and I ordered a transmission bracket that will work once I cut it down.

Now I need help with the PN for the omega clip. It's larger than the one for the cruise control cable. Anyone have any idea what this PN would be?

Blue 16mm

That's it! Thanks, Cooper! You wouldn't happen to know the correct PN for the bracket it goes in to, would you?

How did you find this one? It's not in the PET.

Cooper911SC 11-17-2015 07:11 AM

Hi WRX, sorry, don't know PN for the angle bracket.

The omega clip part numbers are hard to locate in PET. They are often found in the electrical diagrams. Problem is, they aren't called out in the exploded view, just text in the list. Typically called "cable holder" or clip.

I obtained a list from the local dealer several years ago with each size, color, and PN spelled out.

Very handy...

Good luck with the rest of your air box "restoration". Nice to make things stock looking.

Cooper

Sounds like your dealer is a bit more "willing" than my local dealer. I inquired about both the bracket and cable holder, mentioning that I couldn't find it in PET. The response I got was, "yeah, they did some different things like that back then." Ummm, thanks?

The transmission bracket I ordered should work. I'll have to rebend it, trim it, and drill a new hole. No biggie.

Incidentally, armed with that PN and Google I came full circle to another post where Cooper provided the other PNs of the other sizes, and another Pelican took a pic of what he had:

Gray 10mm 477-971-851
Blue 16mm 113-142-261-A
White 18mm 171-971-847-A
Yellow 321-971-847-B
Red 811-971-848-B
Green 999-651-168-40
Black 181-971-847

Okay, I'm still looking for this part number. Yes, I suppose I could bend up another bracket and make it work, but I guess I'd rather have the correct one. Anyone?

famoroso 03-12-2016 10:32 AM

Yeah, I'm looking for some of the similar / adjacent bracketry right there on the throttle body and... I haven't been able to find part numbers. In my case, the PET shows the bracket I want as part of the throttle microswitch (part 17 on the above diagram). I ordered it (I needed a new switch). The bracket did not come with it. I'm still looking for this if anyone has a line...

Missed Approach 03-13-2018 04:38 PM

Hi Wrxnofx- I think I found it... #477971881A. I figured (after a few drinks) that Porsche might have used the bracket on other platforms. It seemed too basic of a part to manufacture solely for the 3.2. I assumed the blue omega clip (#113142261A) would potentially be attached to the bracket in those other applications. Plugging in the omega part number, I eventually found the combined piece in the 85-on 928 fuel system catalog. Parts arrived, and the holes are correct for both screw and omega clip- and it does fit! As an aside, the bracket was also used in the 924, 944, 968 and 911 GT3, although not always with the blue omega clip.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1520987874.JPG
