knock-knock noise inside differential

Hello, I hear a stranger noise when I shut off the engine and sometimes when I go in first gear o rear very slowly and low revs.

I discover that when I move the axle (left or right), I hear the noise inside the differential, it look like a clearance, what do you think is the problem?

I recorded a video to hear the noise I explained:

Noise appears inside the differential when I move the axle from left to right like arrows of the picture...

Does it make the knocking sound while under load being driven?

What transmission is that? Year and model of car needed.

The model I think is a G96 from year 2000.

The knocking sound only appears when the engine is at very low rpm, next to stopped, or when you go in reverse very slow.
Also when I release quickly the clutch pedal (in this case only hear 1 knock if like you hit with a hammer). And of course if I move with the hand the axle.

I found a scheme of inside of differential, maybe could be a loosened in any piece?

Sounds to me like a failed CV Joint. The sound is being amplified through the differential. How many miles do you have on it.

I moved it without the axles when I dissasembly them to replace the CV joints, and make the same noise.

Sounds internal alright but this forum isn't really for the 996 variant of 911. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of your car and transaxle could be more helpful. There are forums specific to your car, here and Rennlist come to mind.. Everything changed quite a bit when Porsche starting building the 996 (vs the air cooled 993). Cheers, and good luck

My LSD has slop there too. I think it is normal. But you should confirm with the 996 guys
