911 2.7 Auxiliary air valve status

Hello,

my 911S 2.7 1977 is refusing to start. The car was running perfectly in all aspects, new fuel pump, rebuilt engine, new sparks, cables. .. but when I tried to start it after 6 months without moving is now not starting.

After checking all the obvious I'm starting to think that other problems are not letting it start, can someone clarify me if this opening gap is correct for the auxiliary air valve that for me seems too opened when resting.

Thanks!

Josep

CIS troubleshooting......

Joseph,

Was the starter cranking the engine fast or slow? Battery fully charged? Were you getting ignition signal during cranking? What is the cold control fuel pressure? FP might not be running (?).

The auxiliary air regular (AAR) shown in your picture has a normal opening when cold. This should not be a factor for your non-start problem.

Thanks for the response and for clarifying that the air valve seems good, the crank is fast enough, battery fully charged and spark on spark plugs.

I haven't checked the cold control fuel pressure, will be next thing to check. Can you please help me in how to check it?

Josep

Fuel pressure test........

Josep,

Do you have a set of CIS pressure gauge you could use for this test? The gauge is installed between the WUR and FD. The shut-off valve must be closer to the WUR in order to measure the system fuel pressure. If you are not familiar yet how the pressure gauge is installed for the test, feel free to ask and we will explain it is done.
