3.2 EFI and 915 transplant into a 911T

Hi Folks.
I just want to get a better understanding of how a mid 80's Carrera 3.2 engine and its 915 trans slots into a 1970 911T shell.
The job has been done but the engine has had to be lowered by about 3/4" at the back end by adding spacers between the mounts and chassis points. No real problem except ground clearance is compromised and the car can't really run as low as it could. The header flanges are grounding occasionally.
Why would this be the case for this engine / trans / chassis configuration?
There are obviously some clearance issues but I don't know what they would be.
Thanks for your help.

Was this lowered to clear the transmission? Engine itself does not need clearance on the underside of the rear deck.

Why not run the stock type 911 transmission?

The 915 will need about a 1/4" bump in the tub seat tunnel on the nose cone ear on top PS of transmission. Takes about 30sec with a hammer. If you don't want to bump the tunnel for clearance I suppose you could shave the ear down.

Thanks for your reply. I think you are right, there is plenty of room at the back engine end but tight up front. The original box is gone so the 915 is being used.
Sounds like an easy fix and I'm not sure why they did not do that if it is so easy.
Good advice, thanks.

Some people just don't like hitting their car with a big hammer.
