Carbon fiber top fit, - on a Targa?
Scenario -
Convert a Targa or Cab to a hard top via a Cabon fiber . Seems like a win win. Is this doable ? Dont get me wrong , I am not asking how to do it. Is the bodies the same below the roof line ?.. I think that is how to phrase the question. thanx!

Can you do it? Yes you can. Though the question is how good can you do it.
There many reproduction hardtops on e-bay and other forums. Though most of them are a bit.. finicky.

Seems like a waste of time, money, and a perfectly good car. Unless the car is already a basketcase.

I was not trying to turn this into debate..But there are plenty of ragged cheap Targa cars around..
And a few Cabs. So my last car weighed in at 2150 full tank. I think with a CF top and some other stuff i could beat that number and have a car with out the leaks..

Short answer- sure you can do it. Longer answer - you can do it well with enough experience, well equipped shop and money.
Better question is why? If you want a light car start with a coupe and start changing panels out with CF or Fiberglass. There are lots of those parts available, and since the car will not be original anymore you can buy a tub that's already been hacked on. -C

there was a Factory top for sale up to a few days ago. for around 4k. They di t come up often. I wish I could blow hat for the top I think it would be fun to put the hardtop on though it looks a little strange with the black trim.
have fun with the build! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a theory about mods. If the car is a death car - meaning you will keep it forever, and someone will need to pry your cold dead hands off the steering wheel - then I say have at it - do whatever you want and let them howl. After all, you won't be around when it comes time to sell. But if you end up getting bored with it and decide to sell - well you are going to have to explain to every potential buyer that no, it is not a coupe, it is a targa that you converted to a coupe - and you will take a major haircut.
If you can afford that haircut, then why not just buy an old cruddy coupe and do the same thing? I could see track guys salivating over a lightweight coupe. Which is mod speak for you may not lose as much money on the mod if you sell. By the way, I am not a targa guy. 3 coupes in a row - although the current one has a sunroof - I know - not a true sports car - but I do love me some targa and spyder. Please post up some pics of your build

His tops seem like a great option as the weight of the top and the carbon fiber looks pretty sweet. I was seriously considering getting one for my Targa, but then found a Saratoga top in great shape and was seduced by the open feel (which is why I always loved open topped cars).
