Mice ain't nice!!!

D*mned Mice!!! I don't know if I'm more angry or disgusted!

I spent last night fixing the door seal in the detached garage to keep them out and/or lock them in so they can die. I was able to vacuum up the mice droppings from the trunk. I checked and don't think they're in the passenger or engine compartments, but a thread tells me they may be in the HVAC system, coming up the A/C drain hose (which is maybe how they got into the trunk?!).

Anyway - can you wash the trunk carpets? Vacuuming got the poop up, but there is a smell that I don't think is going away in the carpets.

And, assuming they're all out of the car now, do I need to pull all the heater hoses now? Will the stink get better or worse if I wait until the spring (unheated garage)?

BTW - these doomed mice had German taste - made a small nest under my daughter's German-made pedal car and my 911, but left the Volvo and the Honda alone!

Same happens to me.....I have two traps in the trunk on top of a piece of cardboard. Wish I knew how they got in. I also have traps all over my garage along with the electric "Ultrasonic" pest repelent (Garbage). I heard moth balls act as deterents. True? I know mice love to make nests inside of airboxes, using the filters a nesting material.

are they comming in the heat flappers? bonnet or boot? the front trunk hoses are paper? they would eat those.

5 gallon bucket with 6 inches of water. they get in ,but they can't get out. (evolved mice are wise to the traps.) glue boards work pretty good, but the smell of decaying rodents flips my tummy.
i like the bucket method. they don't stink underwater. flush em and there gone.

Closed heater flapper boxes before parking, as I had been warned about mice. Still got into the trunk. Will have to check A/C drain hose and paper hoses.

Like the bucket of water idea.

I haven't had a problem...3 "neighborhood cats" are always hanging around...

The PO did though...as part of the rust fixing, I took out a substantial part of double wall..."I smell dog food...hmmm" Mice built a big nest by going in through the gas filler and down into the fender...

The OEM muffler had 2 pounds of birdseed in it too..

Say they did get into the heater hoses, and left stuff. How would one go about cleaning this. Is there some kind of 'chimney-sweep' tool that can be used?

The sticky paper trick works. Put some cheese in the center and mice have met their match.

This blows!

I was about to put together my Pelican Wish List for the Holidays, and now "go fast" parts are being replaced by HVAC tubing and cleaning solvents!

Spring was supposed to be playing with & installing cool parts like drilled rotors. Now I'll be working on something stupid but necessary in the the climate control ducts!

Ugh! Gleaming springtime dreams have turned into dusty little maintenance nightmares!

Where's my winter Grog!?!

Problem with baited traps (Mechanical, Sticky Paper etc) is that I'm afraid of attracting mice that otherwise wouldn't be there. Maybe a perimeter of that sticky paper around the car will do it. By the way what's it called and where can I get?

What is a mouse???

Maybe some kind of sacrificial nest-candidate would work to keep them away from the Porsche. What about baiting an old birdbox (or something) in your garage that you can trap them in?

They cannot resist peanut butter. Put some on a snap trap. I caught two of them nesting in the trunk of my 911. They had chewed up some of the carpet for bedding. I do not usually enjoy the sight of small animals with broken necks, but when they vandalize my 911 ...

You caught two? Certain times of the year I catch two a night. I haven't caught one in a month now...maybe I depleted the mouse population in Northern NJ. Heh heh. slightly cooked bacon is irresistable as well. but probably for raccons as well.

Seems like the snap trap is pretty much the most humane way to deal with these animals.

Exclamation

It might sound crazy, but a friend of mine always swore by Bounce dryer sheets to keep mice out of his camper. A few years ago I had some of those bastards in my trunk as well; a sheet of Bounce in the trunk and one under each front seat, and I haven't seen a mouse since!

i heard about dryer sheets on a boating forum also. never tried it. maybe they don't want to do the laundry either.
