Hoosier R7 for 16" wheels
So im thinking about going with the Hoosier R7 as my Toyo RA1 tires are getting close to cording. I run 225/50/16 in the front and 245/45/16 in the back. I was pleasantly surprised to find the R7s on Tire Rack in the same sizes. HOWEVER, rumor has it that the R7 tire runs a bit wide. Has anybody run these on 7x16 and 8x16 inch fuchs?

I haven't run those sizes, but for the 17" ones we use the 245 R7's are the same width as the outgoing 295 R6's . You might want to call or email Hoosier directly, they are usually pretty responsive.

I run a 245/45/16 R7/A7 on the front of my RSR clone race car 8 1/2 fuchs style wheel, but have run on an 8" as well. The 245 is about the width of a typical 265 tire. Darn near a 275.
It will fit on the rim, question is will it fit inside your fender lip. The 225/16 Hoosier R7 is also wider now than the R6 before, which was wider than the Toyo, which is what I used to run like you. Tire rack and Hoosier have pretty accurate width specs on their sites. Compare to say a similar toyo ra1 in width and you will get a bonus with the Hoosier. 1/2" to an 1" wider in comparable sizes. So...buyer beware. I have been the beneficiary of a couple discounted new sets of Heat Cycled R7 tires in the 245 size from tire rack, (which are usually more expensive to add H/C), because I am pretty sure they got returned for not fitting. |

The R7 is way better than the R6 by the way. I ran the first hour and a half of an enduro race at Buttonwillow, and the R7s never went away. The R6s never lasted more than 20 mins for me before going away. And, there was still tons of rubber left on them. If you break them in right, you can get 8 great/really good and up to 15-20 decent heat cycles out of them with a lightweight 911.
