Killing Fuel Pumps

Hi gang,

Cranks but won't turn over.

Checked the below.

A. No vacuum leaks. Everything new. seals, lines, etc.
B. I get spark
C. Fuel ?

Jumped at the fuel pump relay 87a and 30

No change... just cranks but won't turn over.

I did some electric troubleshooting with Dennis...Thanks Dennis.

Dennis determined the fuel pump had gone bad.

I returned to the store where purchased, and they provided me a new replacement no question asked. Installed the new one and the car fired right up.

I have a new gas tank with fresh gas.

Car sat for 3 weeks probably before my next attempt at firing it up. The battery is on a trickle charger during this time while I was working through other electrical ghosts mysteries on the tail lights, but got those sorted out.

Now symptoms mimic the exact same thing. dang......

Any experience with this same scenario?

Please share and let me know what you found and or how to get to the bottom of this...

Thanks again,

Gary

I just had my engine re built and I provided a cheap new $60 new fuel pump to go on as well as the old one was noisy. On the test run the car died, 2 things happened at exactly the same time

The coil wire popped off the coil, and the new fuel pump died

Could they be related, dont know but a new BOSCH fuel pump and attaching the coil wire properly cured everything

Long shot for sure but you could check all connections/wiring

Thanks for the input...will check.. but I go spark so wouldn't that mean the coil wire is fine?..
With that said going to double check anyway.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

Throw some ether into the intake. If it fires it's fuel. Check fuses and if good, bench test the pump.
