If it's the overhead light above the windshield the entire assembly should pull out easily. Then you can take apart and clean. Sometimes the contacts weaken and need to be "bent" a little closer.

My recollection is that it just prys out with a small screwdriver. Be careful not to mar the vinyl.

like they said; just pry it out CAREFULLY (pics)
If you haven't already pulled out that lil' sucker, here are some pics that describe what's up there beyond the metal, plastic, and vinyl:
![]() My cheap digital cam doesn't do closeups very well, so here's the tightest shot I can provide of the entire light assembly. (Wayne's pic of it is FAR sharper: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/por_911M_lenses_main.htm) ![]() And here's a 3/4 view with green arrows that indicate where the electrical contacts hook up to the wires. Sometimes, shorter or tangled supply line wires create additional resistence and make the extraction more difficult. The white arrow points to one of the two tension-fed tongues, situated on opposing sides, that hold the light fixture in place. It's not necessary to depress those tongues in order to remove the light, but Hella provided a small gap in the metal housing through which you can slip a narrow screwdriver if you want/need to. My understanding is that some of the older light fixtures do not have the slots. |
