PMO carbs in the cold / temp shifts
I have debated long and hard between PMO carbs and a 12 plug, vs ITB's / efi for my SC rally project. I have owned 26 cars in my life and zero have been carb'ed so I naturally have some apprehensions about owning them. My question is how do they perform with changing weather? On my KTM bike, I needed to re-jet for winter / summer and this can be a hassle. I plan to ice race the car, track day and a limited number of rally races.
I can build up the EFI setup for a bit cheaper then the carb and like the ease of starting, fuel mileage and tuneability. That said, I like the simplicity of carbs and the 12 plug. Thanks |

With ethanol laced fuel being the norm these days, I'd recommend going with an EFI system as Webers don't like to sit with the laced fuel. Also, you should get better mileage and easier starting as the Webers do not have any chokes to help with starting in cold weather.
However, few things are as nice as the induction noise a flat six makes through the Webers!

On my car with webers its just a simple turn of mixture screws in spring to lean them out with increasing temperature and then a turn back in the Fall with cooling temperatures. Takes less than 5 min. Done.
EFI is great as long as you properly program your temperature compensation algorithms.
