Speedometer / Odometer venting

Odometer and trip odo quit. So, I take it apart per Wayne's explicit instructions. The innards of this unit are perfect in every way! Except for the one gear (off the worm gear in Wayne's book) that looks to be made of vulcanized gelatin.

Seems a waste to trash the original unit (11/86) because of one crumbly gear possibly made from reconstituted horse hooves.

Thanks for this opportunity to vent.

A speedo shop can replace gear and rebuild it. Prices vary so check around. I just had mine with the same problem same year

Thanks Jerry. You were right about the rebuild.
