Finally done and back together

Today, after over a month of being apart, I got the car back together and went for a drive. In the last month, I updated the chain tensioners, did a valve adjustment, replaced all of the heater hoses and got my automatic heat somewhat working again. It was so great to be able to drive the car again today and to have everything back together with no problems.

I'd like to thank everyone who gave me guidance about the chain tensioners and valve adjustment. There were some shaky moments there, but everything seems to work fine.

This post probably interests no one, but I had to pass along my joy. I'll have to do some serious driving in the next few days, before winter hits in Nebraska and my baby has to stay inside.

That was the first major ( to me anyways) work I performed on my SC. Great sense of acomplishment, and saved $1000.

Steve,

Congratulations on doing the job yourself.

Hope you have a few more nice days to enjoy the car. We're having some great weather here in the Northwest and it's great to have a few more "dry" days to drive the car.

I got to move. Here you guys are still able to drive for a few days and I've had to put my car away a month ago for the winter due to salt.

Congratulations! I did mine earlier this year when I had the engine apart when I replaced all the lower dilivar head studs. It's a great feeling to be able to work on these engines and do it right. Just for kicks, I priced the chain tensioner upgrade job at our local Porsche dealer and they wanted $1,500 to do the job.

We have snow here in RI too. I am hoping for some rain to wash away the sand and salt on the roads so I can get some more seat time in before winter settles in for good. Hey, at least we can ski!

Here's a pic
