Red arrow light in speedometer
Just noticed it and unsure of what it is indicating
1987 Coupe |
Upshift for maximum mpg.

It is better used as an "ignore light". |
If it bugs you, you can disconnect it from the tach. Its the black wire in the harness connector. Back-probe it with a small, thin tool and you can release the tang that holds the female spade terminal into the harness connector.
Even when you disconnect the black wire, the upshift light will still activate at really high rpms. It's like having a redline shift light you can barely see........... :D |
It has a fun aconym, CASIS. Computer Assisted Shift Indicator System.
Or, as I like to say it, Cassie who likes to nag. |
Red...?? Mine is blue, 88 Carrera....
|
Mine is orange (84)
|
Orange on mine too (87)
|
Orange on my former '87 and on my current '86
|
If it doesn't come on you're shifting too way too early (unless the engine is cold).
|
Thanks for the info. I'll have to be a little more agressive with my shift points
|
Mine was removed by Hollywood Speedo, every time it went on, I felt like I was driving a minivan.
|
Dang modern cars. ;)
|
a Pic would really help.
BTW, mine is Orange :D |
Turbos don't have one of those since every driver of one already has a shift indicator built into their bodies - heed the clinching of one's personal wastegate! :D

I had mine replaced with something one billion times more useful. Maybe two billion times more useful! |

We have a winner! |
Had N. Hollywood Speedo do the same thing to my tach as was done to G85Carrera's tach. Installed a useful voltmeter. One of the best mods that I have done to the 88.

The useful change:

Is there a way to disable just the part that lights up for fuel efficiency? I think it's nice as a redline indicator.
I was gonna rig my aftermarket shift light to trigger the stock upshift indicator near redline... |
