Oil breather hose
Why is the oil breather hose 1" ID?
I would like to clean up the engine bay. If I put a reducer in there and used 1/2" hose what could possibly go wrong?

It depends on the condition of your engine and how much blow-by it has.
Not sure I'd worry about looks in this case. JR |

My guess is that the long, large ID hose also functions as an oil separator. Large ID means low velocity air air from the crankcase to the intake, which gives a chance for oil vapor to "drop out" and run back to the crankcase (rather than pull a lot of oil vapor which may foul the intake).
