Clock & Memory Saver
Does anyone know if the products that link a 9-volt to the cigarette lighter to save memory settings during electrical work are anything more than the battery, wires, and plugs?
Is the polarity of the wires reversed in order to flow current into the electrical system rather than out of it? Resetting everything after small electrical work is getting tiresome on the 911 <- on topic. Thanks, Olivier |
I think it just inputs its 9 volt positive back though the 12 volt circuit going to the cigarette lighter outlet. It should backfeed through the fusebox to all the "always on" circuits (clock/radio/ECU) to keep them active.
I wouldn't keep it plugged in for very long though, posibility of overcharging the 9volt. |
That's what I was wondering. It seems that keeping the polarity the same as any other lighter plug accessory would make the current flow into the 9-volt.
Although, with the main battery disconnected, I suppose the 9-volt is functioning like the main battery and would be hooked up the same way. Olivier |
Keeping the polarity the same will run the battery in parallel with the original battery. Connect positive to positive and negative to ground...
