Rust Advice Needed
Ok
So sometimes I think this car is going to take forever to get back on the road. Luckily I am not in any particular hurry. In taking the rear left wheel off to check the fuel pump I noticed a couple of rust spots. I have poked around with a screw driver and from the points where I can get access the two spots in the pictures appear to be the first of it. The first pic I think is in the Kidney Bowl area ...Is that right ?... Is it bad...?...The second is higher up near the rear quarter window. Is that bad as well ? I suspect I have the same issue on the right hand side I just haven't had the courage to look as yet ! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1448852146.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1448852183.jpg |
Car doesn't exist without pics.

The first pic is the back side of the rocker support? I would poke around in front of that from underneath and see if it's gotten to the backside of your rocker/door post. They tend to rust at the base of the door post where they meet the rocker.
The second could have been caused by a rear window leak. I would pull back some of the rear deck carpet etc. and have a look there as well. |
sad part is, if Porsche would have supplied a plastic inner fender liner, none of this door post/rocker/kidney bowl rust would have happened.

It's an oldish Porsche, it is going to have some rust. Identify it, address it and move on. Do not let it deter your project.
