89 Carrera Targa Windshield replacement

What is the best advice for getting a factory windshield replaced for a 1989 Carrera Targa? Insurance will pay...however, I am concerned about the job getting done right and the correct seal being used for the install. Is it OK to go to a National glass provider like Safelite or should this be handled by a Porsche Shop?

I've done a few windshields myself and I think you're best off taking it to someone that's done it before. They are quite fiddley and take patience and some gentle persuasion to get installed correctly. I'd find a shop with experience in our cars or other older foreign cars.

Windshield technology has changed significantly in the past 30 years so an expert for a modern windshield may have no clue on how to get an old 911 windshield to set properly.
