I've had my valve covers off for 3 days...

Is this a problem? Stored in a garage, no dust, but can rust settle in? '83 SC.

Not a problem at all. I've had them off for months at a time and am sure others have done the same.

Had mine off as well for a week or so last winter no issues and as mentioned previously everything is all lubed up!

Valve covers off

I would be concerned about little creatures finding their way into the case....I would never leave an engine in a garage of any kind open after it has been sealed up and Torqued...

Agree with the conservative standpoint.

However, I would be ok with letting it lay wide open, long time (weeks) , with the engine lid shut. Lubed up? It's already lubed.

Subjective variable is do you have a historical rodent problem? Spiders and bugs? Engine will take car of them.

It will be fine as long as you don't drive it around too much

Worry about stuff that will really cause damage. Three days is nothing! And unless you live in a rodent infested zoo, no worries about that either, LOL.
