911SC 1 in 4 out Borla exhaust
Hey everyone. A friend of mine has a 1 in 4 out Borla muffler sitting in his garage and he offered it to me for a great deal. My question is; is this exhaust too loud? I will only do street driving and want a good sound, but nothing ridiculous. I have had Dansk sport mufflers with duel outlet and they sounded great. Also, have had B&B years ago. I've searched the forums and there is a mixed analysis on this particular muffler, though. Also, power gains would be nice to know about, too.
Just looking for input is all before I jump on the muffler, or get a Bursch system or another brand. Even a sound file would be fantastic. Thanks, guys, now enlighten me! Last edited by bbturbo; 12-01-2015 at 11:47 AM.. |

I/4 out I'd expect lots of noise and power loss.
Porsche tunes the intake to the exhaust and only loses points for the emissions factor over which they have no control. The factory does a good job. Putting a free flow muffler on a stock motor just moves your mid range torque higher up the rpm range...iotw a soft/mushy mid range. You might gain, might, a few HP at WOT (wide open throttle) but do you normally drive at WOT? I've found the best muffler for a stock set up is the Dansk or Porsche 1 in 1 out...if you had SSI's I'd say a Dansk 2 in one out. Most aftermarkets just make noise not torque...unless you have a modified motor that is taking more in (intake) so it needs to let more out (freer flow).

Loud, I was flagged for noise at the San Diego AX. Pass on it is my advice.

I appreciate the responses, everyone. Looks like I may have to pass on this one. Too bad too, I love the quad tips.
I will be rebuilding the engine down the line and thought this may be a good muffler for a 265hp-ish build maybe a year or two down the road. |
