3.2 Injector batch squirt question

If the firing order of the flat 6 is 1-6-2-4-3-5, why did Porsche batch squirt cylinders 1-2-3 and 4-5-6 as groups? Is there a batch squirt to each bank every crank revolution or every other revolution? If a bank is getting a squirt every other revolution, that leads to a relatively huge difference in time delay before the respective cylinders of a group consume the fuel. For example there is a 600° firing difference between cylinder 1 and 3, but one squirt. Am I missing something?

Megasquirt 3 pro has the option to set up as semi-sequential but requires pairing the injectors. I would like to pair them like the firing order 1-6 and 2-4 and 3-5. This would result in a 120° difference in firing between grouped injector pairs with one squirt.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Dan

I've been trying to figure this out myself and there is conflicting info out there. Some folks say the Motronic injection is "bank-to-bank" and alternates between bank 1 (1-2-3) and bank 2 (4-5-6). I assume they would get 2 squirts per cycle (1 squirt per revolution).

But Sal Carceller, who has clearly devoted much time to the Motronic system, has stated that all 6 injectors fire simultaneously (again, divided over 2 squirts per cycle).

Megasquirt support forum member said to pair them as 1-4 and 6-3 and 2-5?!?!? Which would put pairs 360° apart. I'm pursuing the reasoning behind this approach......

That means true batch squirt!

They are definitely wired separately, bank 1 vs bank 2. Perhaps wired like this just for electrical load carrying reasons and all still fire at the same time/duration.

Yes, I think you have the correct pairings for semi-sequential. This link should help explain semi-sequential injection.

I was thinking the same thing - wired like this for convenience, but giving the illusion of bank-to-bank injection.

Awesome link, thanks so much!

Realizing that they squirt half as much every rev, makes it all logical and plausible for me.

I can finally get back to wiring in confidence.

What setup are you using with your MS3? ITBs?

Carrera intake/throttle body with Vortech Supercharger.
